PvP Improvements ESO Needs in 2019

It ain’t no secret that PvP, especially Cyrodiil, is in dire need of attention in Elder Scrolls Online. Cyrodiil is plagued with performance issues and desperately needs some quality of life improvements. Here’s my list of the major PvP related things that needs fixing. Lag and Performance This is obviously the biggest issue plaguing Cyrodiil right now. Abilities taking five seconds to go off, not being able to swap bars, rubberbanding, texture bugs and just lag in general. All of these issues seem to get worse after each update and it affects everyone to some extent regardless of how good …

Looking Back on 2018 – ESO Edition

Elder Scrolls Online had a massive 2018. With quarterly content release cycles, there was always something to look forward to! I started out the year mainly doing solo stuff then the last few months getting full-on into PvP. The content released was fantastic! Both the Summerset and Murkmire stories were excellent! The environments of both the new zones were incredible. I’m continually blown away by the beauty and detail of this game. The new houses released this year were incredible. The Princely Dawnlight Palace and the Enchanted Snow Globe Home were particularly amazing. However, it’s very disappointing that they still …

Zerging 101 – The Joys and Pitfalls of the Zerg Machine

It’s been a tumultuous few weeks for me since I joined a Zerg Guild. But honestly, I’ve never had so much fun PvPing in my entire life. For the uninitiated, let me explain what a Zerg is. Basically, it is a large coordinated group of people working together in a PvP environment usually following the instructions of a single leader (or in our case, usually two). Zerg compositions and the number of people involved may vary but the result is the same, total carnage in their wake. And let me tell you, it’s exhilarating! There’s nothing like being part of …

The MMO that broke my Devotion to SWTOR – Why ESO is now my main MMO

I haven’t exactly made it a secret that I’m not playing Star Wars The Old Republic much anymore. There was a time where I balanced my time between Elder Scrolls Online and SWTOR. But now, ESO has completely won over my time. There are various factors that contribute to this of course which I’ll go over later on in the post. But in the meantime, here are the key things that made me switch to ESO. Large Scale Open World PvP ESO delivers exhilarating PvP on a scale that SWTOR will never be able to. SWTOR’s antiquated engine simply cannot …

The 5.10 Gearing Op-Ed – Dismissing Entitled Casuals and the Need to bring back PvP Gear

There has certainly been a mixed reaction to the new tier of gear being introduced to Star Wars The Old Republic in Game Update 5.10. Instead of the new tier being ‘drops’ from content or Galactic Command, it will instead be craftable. The schematics will drop exclusively from NIM GOTM with the new mats needed to craft the gear will drop from NIM GOTM, Ranked PvP and the new Daily Area. The exclusivity of this gear has certainly drawn quite a negative reaction from the more casual player base and even those who aren’t so casual but don’t do NIM …

Wildstar’s Demise – Remembering a Quirky, Fun MMO!

Wildstar’s demise has seemed inevitable for a long time now. But still, to hear the news is completely devastating. I first played the game during Closed Beta and I fell in love with it. The humour, the combat, the lore, the potential. I was so excited! Launch came along, fun times were had. PvP was fun, sometimes. Then came the struggle of endgame. The hard slog. Most people couldn’t handle it including my Guild. The numbers dwindled then I eventually I went back to my other MMO. I checked in here and there, came back whenever there was an Update …

Thoughts on the Fall 2018 Content coming to SWTOR

There’s something for every type of Star Wars The Old Republic player to look forward to in the new content being released throughout the rest of the year. You can read more about what’s to come in the Fall 2018 Road Map or from my Fall 2018 Road Map Summary. But first, let’s look at my favourite content in the game, PvP! Vandin Huttball We’re getting a new Huttball Map in Game …

Open World PvP – The Ultimate Player Generated Content

Disclaimer: I was not around when the game launched, so I missed out on Ilum (I started playing the game a couple of weeks before 1.2 launched). So I will obviously not be discussing it.  In a recent Bad Feeling Podcast Interview (205) (audio auto-plays) the developers talked about how, going forward, they were going to be introducing more means for players to make their own content, what they refer to as player-made content. Incorporating PvP features into the Rishi Stronghold was the first step in this venture. You can read my summary and commentary of the interview here: A …

My Tour of Bioware Austin

Now that I’m getting more settled back home again, I figure it’s about time I tell you all a little about this ominous tweet. #SWTOR #swtorfamily pic.twitter.com/TYSE77pxV7 — ✨Xam Xam? (@Rach_Games) 6 August 2018 Yes, I went to Bioware Austin. Eric Musco, the Community Manager for Star Wars The Old Republic was kind enough to give my Boyfriend and I a tour of the studio before we moved back to Australia. Musco and Charles Boyd, Creative Director for SWTOR, showed us around. I can’t really say much about the tour itself as we did sign an NDA. But I will say that we …

Upcoming Content Speculation and Recent Bioware Comments

Part of this article was originally published exclusively for Patrons on July 16th. Some amendments have been made for this article.  Star Wars The Old Republic recently launched Game Update 5.9.2 which enjoyed an excellent cycle on the PTS but has had some ongoing hiccups since it launched. The most impressive thing to me about 5.9.2 wasn’t just the content, but the testing it went through on the PTS. I really hope they keep using the PTS to test future content. But now we’ve once again reached a point where we know little about what content they have in store for …
