The bikers are here to take on dangerous challenge courses, show off their piloting skills, and flaunt their souped-up swoop bikes. The thunder of the engines, the deafening applause from the fans, the wind battering their helmets… there’s no bigger rush for these thrill seekers.

They just love adrenaline-pounding speed, sweet jumps, and big explosions, and the All Worlds Ultimate Swoop Rally combines all three in one crowd-pleasing package. The biggest gangs on the circuit — Horizon’s Razor, the Pit Screamers, and the Blatant Beks — are ready to show their fans a great time.

Conquest Reset Time Change

The time Conquest commences is also changing. It will now be at the same time as the daily reset time.

Conquests will begin at 12:00 pm GMT, so the previous Conquest week will end at 11:00 am GMT to allow for the hour cooldown period between events.

This change was done to align all reset events (Operations, dailies etc.) so now everything including Conquest and Events will all have the same reset time. This will help prevent development issues that could arise and be more convenient for the players.

Heroics

[Heroic 2] Shiny New Toy
  • Soloable – Yes, 2-manned with heal and DPS or two DPS plus companions.
  • Requirements – When soloing, mob management (CC’s, stuns, killing low health mobs first), minor companion micro-managing.
  • Comments – Mobs are harder to kill then the initial bosses (mini-bosses). The final boss can hit hard if you’re not careful.
  • Key Boss Mechanics – Use EMP Missiles to take down the Walker’s shield and stay out of the ‘shock and awe’ red circle (you can kite it) or interrupt it. You can also interrupt the shield cast for more DPS uptime on the Walker.
Pick up EMP Missiles from highlighted box.
[Heroic 4] Beware of Hugo
  • Soloable – Yes, easily 2-manned with healer and DPS or two DPS with companions.
  • Requirements – When soloing, mob management (CC’s, stuns, killing low health mobs first), major companion micro-managing on the Boss.
  • Comments – Mobs are pretty straight forward to deal with solo. Final two mobs can get ugly if you aggro both (which is easy to do, wait for the walking one to walk back to the mob group closest to gate before attacking second last mob). Alternatively, you can skip the final 2 mobs and just click straight on the gate and teleport all group members to the boss. Hugo is tedious and painful but soloable.
  • Key Boss Mechanics – Bleeding Effect at 5 stacks really hurts. Taking your Companion in and out of combat can help reduce the stacks they get. The boss seems to switch aggro a fair bit though. Don’t stand in his cleave ability if you have 5 stacks.
Watch out for the Bleeding Effect.
[Heroic 4] Reactor Ransom

There are two different ways to complete this Heroic. Pay the ransom to Yavok or kill Yavok.

To pay the Ransom, all you have to do is click on the Droid in the entryway of the Heroic, buy the ransom item for 15 million Credits then use it.

To proceed with the Heroic and kill Yavok, click on the Locking Mechanism terminal, kill the mobs and then Yavok.

  • Soloable – Possibly, but can be 2-manned with a DPS and Healer plus companions or 2 DPS with healing companions
  • Requirements – When soloing, mob management (CC’s, stuns, killing low health mobs first) t, minor companion micro-management
  • Comments – The mobs are straight forward to manage, the boss can be tanked and spanked pretty easily with good heals.
  • Key Boss Mechanics – The circle Yavok puts on the aggroed player does a fair bit of damage. Everything else was ignorable when 2-manning. Make sure the beam ability doesn’t hit the conduit pillar thing in the centre of the room!

5 Things to do on Dantooine

Dantooine is finally coming to Star Wars The Old Republic on May 28th as part of Game Update 5.10.3. The main highlight of 5.10.3 is the new Pirate Incursion Event (on Dantooine). But there is more to this backwater world then meets the eye.

Here are some of the things you can do while dodging blaster fire from pirates and raining debris from space battles.

Go on a Treasure Hunt

Arrrrrrr maties! If ye find all the clues, some treasurrrrrre therrrrrrrre may be! But be wary, you may need a spyglass (or both your eyes intact, natural or cybernetic) to spot the first one.

Sample the Local Cuisine

Sure there may be battles raging around you and in the sky above, but why not take the time to sample some local delicacies? I’m sure the pirates won’t mind (though you may have to kill a few first). Try some tasty Kath Hound Shanks or sample some Bloatgourd fruit among other things.

Local Mystery – The Well

To jump or not to jump, that is the question. Although if you’re Republic scum being chased by some Pirates or Imperials, it may offer you a quick escape (death). Cowards.

See the Sights

Gaze upon the ruins of the long-neglected Jedi Enclave. Though it said that salvaging efforts have turned a tidy profit. But alas, it is quite a dangerous place. So it’s best viewed from a distance.

Visit Polly’s Island

If you dare. There may be more to this island then meets the eye. So tread carefully lest you end up like one of these crispy souls.

There is more to do on Dantooine, of course. All that’s needed is a keen eye and a sense of adventure!

Now that you’ve seen a tease of what’s to come, what are you most looking forward to about Dantooine?

The Golden Dupe – How to lose 150 Million Credits in The Old Republic

Now here’s a story about how my character got a ‘golden glow’ in Star Wars The Old Republic.

Shiny, right?

It all started when I went to check out the Reputation Vendor on Dantooine after the 5.10.3 PTS was patched. Among an assortment of new additions to the vendor, I found this curious item, ‘Yarvok’s Gratitude’, which gave little away as to its purpose (or so I thought).

Not being able to find the achievement, to get the item, listed among the other Dantooine Achievements (it’s hardly the only hidden achievement on Dantooine), I proceeded to test the dailies…Again…

Then I decided to finally take a crack at the final Heroic 4 I hadn’t tried yet ‘Reactor Ransom’. But, instead of doing the hard yards, I thought I’d see what would happen if I just paid the ransom.

So I clicked on the droid inside the Heroic, saw the 15 million credit price tag and thought, ‘It’s just going to be a one-time thing for ‘The Easy Way’ achievement–why not?’

Narrator: It was not to be a one -time thing.

I got the achievement I wanted. But there was a catch. It unlocked another achievement, the achievement I couldn’t find earlier, ‘The Golden Dream’, to get the item on the vendor.

And what did I have to do to get the mystery item?

Pay the ransom 10 times.

10 times.

150 Million Credits.

So for curiosities sake, I made the sacrifice. I did the Heroic (paid the ransom) nine more times on various alts and bam! I completed the achievement and got the mystery item, ‘Yarvok’s Gratitude’, in the mail (if you want it on your alts, just buy it from the Dantooine Reputation Vendor for 1 measly Credit).

‘They said it was ridiculous. That it couldn’t be done. That Yarvok’s dreams could only ever be dreams. Well, as the new co-owner of Star Cluster, Yarvok says to those who doubted him what he has always said: Hand over the money or I’ll shoot!’ – Brought to you by the Yarvok Corporation.

So what does it do? It literally makes you glow gold. Hence ‘The Golden Dream’. The golden glow lasts for 30 seconds and does a little animation when you activate it. You can click on ‘Yarvok’s Gratitude’ (and even put it on your skill bar) whenever you want to activate it. But, if it is already active, it won’t do the animation again, you have to click it off your buff bar to see the animation again.

Here’s another image for good measure.

For a mere 150 Million Credits (or 37.5 Million if you split it with three other people), you too can give your character a golden glow when the Dantooine Pirate Incursion Event launches with Game Update 5.10.3 on June 4th!
