How Does the Midyear Mayhem Event Work?

The Midyear Mayhem Event is a PvP focused Event that rewards Event Tickets and some cosmetic rewards. To earn Event Tickets, you have to complete a Cyrodiil daily or Battleground Match to get two Event tickets and an Imperial City Daily to get one Event Ticket. Doing daily quests will also reward Pelinal’s Midyear Boon Box’s.

Midyear Mayhem Introductory Quest

First off, do the introductory quest for an easy Boon Box.

  1. Navigate to the in-game Crown Store to Events -> Quest Starters section and purchase the FREE ‘Event Quest: Midyear Mayhem’.
  2. Travel to your faction’s main gate in Cyrodiil from the Alliance War menu or go to the Battlegrounds vendors in select cities (Davon’s Watch, Vulkel Guard and Glenumbra + some DLC cities (Solitude, Vivec City etc.).
  3. Locate the NPC called ‘Predicant Maera’ and acquire the quest titled ‘Midyear Mayhem’
  4. Complete the quest to earn a Pelinal’s Midyear Boon Box.

What’s the easiest way to earn your Event Tickets in Cyrodiil?

So you just want to earn your tickets each day and be done with it? Well, there are a few different quests you can do to earn your ticket.

  • Town quests in Vlastarus, Bruma, Cropsford, Cheydinhal, and Chorrol
  • Scouting, Bounty, Battle, Warfront, and Conquest Missions
  • Elder Scroll capture and recapture quests

The quickest and easiest quests to complete are Town Quests and the Scouting Missions in Cyrodiil. Doing these quests also gives you the least chance of coming across, or being involved in, PvP engagements.

Note you will have to do the Introductory PvP Quest to gain access to the Mission Boards and Scroll Quests. Town Dailies should be accessible regardless of if you’ve done the quest or not.

Midyear Mayhem Cyrodiil Cropsford

Town Quests

There are five different Towns you can go to and complete daily quests at:

  • Vlastarus (usually Dominion controlled)
  • Bruma (usually Covenant controlled)
  • Cropsford (usually Pact controlled)
  • Cheydinhal (Pact Territory near Farragut Keep)
  • Chorrol (Covenant Territory near Fort Rayles)

As of Update 20, you can now travel directly to Vlastarus, Bruma and Cropsford via the Transitus Network.

If you are an EP or DC player, you’re better off going to Cheydinhal or Chorrol to do a daily quest as they are in your territory, out of the way (aka very rare for PvP battles to happen at these locations) and harder for enemy players to get to.

There are two different daily quest givers in each town. Each quest giver has five daily quests. There are a total of 10 daily quests you can do in each town per day.

Remember, you will only need to do ONE daily quest to get two tickets. They are assigned randomly so you never know which daily quest you’re going to get. They are either completed in the town or in the surrounding area.

If your factions Town (Vlastarus, Bruma and Cropsford) is under enemy control, you can still go in and grab the daily quests! Just be extra wary of guards and other players! Using stealth potions in this situation can make life a lot easier!

Alternatively, go with friends and get it back for your faction quickly and do one daily quest to minimise the chance of PvP encounters.

Cyrodiil Ebonheart Pact Scouting Mission Board

Scouting Missions

You can pick up the scouting mission from the Scouting Mission Board at your Factions Gate.

  • Ebonheart Pact – Northern Morrowind Gate
  • Aldmeri Dominion – Eastern Elsweyr Gate
  • Daggerfall Covenant – Southern High Rock Gate

Once you pick up the Mission, use the Transitus Shrine to travel to the closest Keep to the scouting location. From there, you can travel by Mount to the location.

Once you get in proximity to the scouting location, the quest will update and prompt you to ‘use scout report’.

Note: You can do this quest in stealth!

Midyear Mayhem Sneaking

Once the quest is completed, you can either death port (deliberately get yourself killed) or travel away from the location a bit and used a Keep Recall Stone to port back to your faction Gate to hand in the Mission.

Elder Scroll Capture and Recapture Quests

If you happen to be online when your faction is moving a scroll, then you’re in luck! This by far the simplest way to earn Event tickets and requires little effort on your part. Just open up the map to see if your faction is running a scroll (it will move on the map). Go into a campaign where your faction has the highest population to increase the likelihood of a scroll run happening.

All you have to do is talk to your Alliance’s Grand Warlord to pick up the quest. Since there are multiple scroll quests you may have to abandon the one you get and talk to the Grand Warlord again until you get the right scroll quest (unless a kind soul offers to group with you and share it).

  • Ebonheart Pact – Grand Warlord Zimmeron (North Gate)
  • Daggerfall Covenant – Grand Warlord Dortene (South Gate)
  • Aldmeri Dominion – Grand Warlord Sorcalin (East Gate)

Imperial City Ebonheart Pact Base

Imperial City Tips

Since you have to do an Imperial City daily to get 1 Event Ticket, here are a couple of tips to help you get your event ticket as smoothly as possible (for IC).

In Imperial City, it is near impossible to avoid PvP during Midyear Mayhem. You will run into other players and on top of that, there are plenty of NPC’s around to hamper your efforts. However, here are a couple of tips that could help you get through IC nice and quick if that is your preference.

These are the three fastest dailies to do in Imperial City in order of speed and ease.

  • Memorial District (EP Sewer Entrance)
  • Arena District (EP Sewer Entrance)
  • Arboretum District (AD Sewer Entrance)

The other dailies have objectives that are far more spread out across their respective districts making them riskier and time-consuming to complete.

How to pick up Imperial City Dailies

To pick up an Imperial City daily, you have to use the district ladders in your faction base to get to the quest giver in each zone. When you port to a district, the quest giver will be right next to the trap door (which you can also use if you die to easily go back to your faction’s base). Each faction has its own safe spawn area in each district.

While doing a daily, have stealth potions on standby. Keep in mind that clicking on an objective will pull you out of stealth. If you don’t care about Tel Var, you can death port once you finish a daily. Then if you rez at a district base, you can use the trapdoor to go to your faction’s main base.

Alternate Porting Tip – If you really don’t want to lose the Tel Var you gained and don’t want to risk walking through Imperial City and the sewers to get back to your faction’s base, then simply queue into a Cyrodiil campaign then, once you are there, select an Imperial City campaign to port back in to hand in your daily.

General PvP Tips

  • Choosing a Campaign
    • Pick a low population campaign! This will decrease the likelihood of coming across enemy players and reduce lag.
    • Or you can pick a campaign that has a high population of your faction.
    • Do not go into Grey Host or any other CP (Champion Points enabled) campaign. They have the highest populations and really long queues. You will get slaughtered especially if you’re in PvE gear.
  • Go with Friends!
    • If you’re still nervous about going to Cyrodiil on your own, find some friends or ask guildies to go with you. Chances are you’ll find someone who is also looking to do a quest!
  • Travelling/Porting Tip
    • If you wish to return to your factions base but are far away or don’t want to further risk getting into PvP encounters, all you have to do is teleport into an Imperial City or Cyrodiil Campaign then go back to the campaign you were in.
    • Note: You can not switch between Cyrodiil or Imperial City campaigns you have to go to the opposite area. eg. Imperial City -> Cyrodiil or Cyrodiil -> Imperial City.
  • Stealth Potions
    • Have these handy, especially if you’re out on your own, so you can disappear if you see an enemy player (be sure to also go into crouch stealth mode too). Don’t use any abilities or it will cancel the potion effects.
    • As long as you’re not in combat you should be able to stay in stealth (stay hidden) once the potion wears off. Note guards can see through stealth potions so be super quick or careful (especially around an enemy-controlled areas).

The Roguish Stealth Draught Potions you get from the Dark Brotherhood Daily Rewards or Thieves Troves will work perfectly! Alternatively, you can craft your own.

PvP may seem daunting, but really it is a lot of fun, especially with friends! But for those of you who don’t want to have minimal PvP interactions, Hopefully, my tips will help make things a little easier for you. That way, you can get in and get your tickets quickly with minimal issues!
